Welcome to the Not-So Rose Coloured Glasses Project
Have you ever wondered whether it was just you?
Whether these
emotions, these thoughts going through your head, these
situations...whether they were something experienced by you alone? And
have you ever wished that someone else understood and that they were
there to led an ear and a helping hand?
Well I have.
I've sat there and
wondered why in a world and time where we're so against censorship and
judgement, there are still so many topics we just don't talk about.
Body shaming. Rape. Expectations. Depression. There are so many others I could list.
Oh, we 'talk' about
them. We hear so much about them. But where is the honesty, the hard
facts, the support - why is it so rare that these things are treated as real issues faced by real people?
As a female, I've always been taught to be strong.
But as females
we've grown up in a world that seems to be doing everything it can to
make us the total opposite of strong - to tear us apart.
That may sound
melodramatic. But it is the truth. You can't deny that the hardest parts
of being a female aren't what goes on in the world around you...but
what goes on inside you.
The negative thoughts. The worries. The fears. The impossible expectations and burdens you carry day to day.
This blog is about making sense of all sides of life.
It's about learning from the human experience - the experiences of other women, with no filters.
None. Nothing is going to be sugar-coated. Or edited. What's posted on this blog will be honest thoughts, fears, and hopes.
We'll
be talking about all kinds of topics - from deep-rooted and difficult
issues faced by women, to more light-hearted topics such as dating,
food, fitness, and binge-watching TV.
This blog is about helping one another to be stronger & more confident.
This
blog is going to be a mix of posts by myself, as well as guest posts by
other females sharing their thoughts and experiences. Each post will finish
with a little list of activities - things to try to help you develop
self-love, self-worth, and a sense of pride in who you are.
It is also a place for all of you to share your experiences - with the option of anonymity.
If you are interested in being a guest blogger, or would like to submit an experience, you can send an e-mail to nsrosecolouredglassesproject@gmail.com
Look around you.
Look at you.
Now close your eyes...& look within you.
You
don't have to walk life alone. You don't have to accept other people's
assumptions that your problems are 'fleeting', 'unimportant', 'not
real', or 'easy'. Because your life, and your experiences, are real to you. And that's what really matters.
We here at the Not-So Rose Coloured Glasses Project are here for you.
